Messy Bun Hairstyle

This hairstyle is inspired by PurplePurpleYam's Sock bun although her hair is quite a bit longer than mine, so I can't do the braids toward the end, instead making it a messy bun. LOL

1. Curl your hair. It really doesn't matter which direction you curl cause the hair will be messy later anyway.



2. Use a big scrunchie and tie around your hair.

3. Now use a clear rubber band and wrap around to hide the scrunchie and to make a bun.


4. Twist the hair around to create a messy look...

How To Tease Your Hair

I got several requests for how to tease hair (backcomb). Hair teasing is actually very simple and easy to do. Although, it takes several tries and practices to make a big and perfect pouf. I tried to demonstrate the process with pictures. Hope this will help.

1. After shower, blow dry your hair in an upwards motion. If your hair is dry, lather/spray a good amount of water on it. This is a good prep process to add natural volume to your hair.


2. Use a large brush while blow drying to add volume. Preferably a large round brush (not like mine).


3. Make a mental note on the area where you want to tease your hair/create a big pouf. Usually, hair teasing is focused on the crown area. If you want, you can section out this area and use a hair clip to clip the rest of the hair away.

Take a small 1-2 inches section at a time. Hold the ends of the section straight up and out from the scalp with one hand. Now, use a rattail comb (the one that have teeth at one end and a fine point that the other end) and start backcombing from the end towards the roots. Remember to not combing the hair back and forth but always start at the end and brush it toward the root, then take it out, and start at the end again.





4. The volume and height is depending on how much teasing you put in the process. Once you're done with one section, use hairspray to spray only on that section to help keeps the section firm. Repeat step three, taking small section at a time until you've backcombed the desired crown area.


5. Once you're done, carefully use the comb to smooth the teased hair back in the opposite direction. For a simple big hair pouf, gently brush the hair backwards, smoothing it over the teased base and secure it with bobby pins or hair clip.

Cute Simple Sidetie Hairstyle

Here's a very quick, simple, and easy hairstyle inspired by the french braids.


I've seen this hairstyle on a magazine or a book sometime ago and thought I'd give it a try. This is fairly simple and easy hairstyle to achieved. It looks like french braids in a way but with a modern twist.

I didn't use any hair gel or hairspray on my hair, except colored rubber bands:



1. Side swept your hair to whichever side you're comfortable with.




2. Take a small section of hair on both sides and pull it to the back.


3. Use a colored rubber band to secure it. At this point, you have two choice, you can secure it straightly on the back of your head or you can pull it slightly to one side like how I did.


4. Continue take small section of your hair on both sides from where the ears is and secure it with a rubber band in the back or to the side.

Your results should look similar to this:
